Costs and paying for support.

Paying for support is often the least understood part of arranging it. This page explains where NewStep fits so you can work out where you stand before committing to anything.

Private arrangements

Most of our clients arrange and pay for their support privately. You choose the visit pattern and the support hours directly with us, and can change them whenever you wish.

We set out costs in writing before support starts, and nothing begins until you have agreed them.

Direct payments

Some people receive a direct payment from their local council following an assessment, and use it to arrange support with a provider of their choice. Whether a direct payment can be used for non-regulated home support and companionship is decided by the council, not by us.

We are happy to provide written details of our support and costs for a direct payment discussion.

Where NewStep sits

NewStep provides non-regulated home support and companionship. We hold no local authority or NHS contract, and we do not claim one.

If you also need personal care, medication support or nursing, those are arranged separately through a CQC-registered provider or the NHS. Our support can run alongside them.

Getting independent advice

Independent guidance on paying for support at home is available from Age UK, Carers UK and the NHS website. We are happy to point you towards the right starting point, even if you do not go on to use our service.

NewStep's own rates, minimum visit charges and any future funding arrangements require confirmation by the business before publication.

Looking for support at home? Talk to NewStep.

We will listen first, then build an arrangement around the person — not the other way round.
