Safeguarding is not a policy document kept in a drawer. It is part of recruitment, induction, supervision and every visit our assistants make.
Our commitments
We work to prevent abuse and neglect, to recognise it where it occurs, and to act promptly and proportionately when a concern is raised.
- Safe recruitment, including enhanced DBS and reference checks
- Mandatory safeguarding training at induction and refreshed thereafter
- A named person responsible for safeguarding within the organisation
- Clear recording and escalation routes for every concern
- Support for our assistants to raise concerns without fear of reprisal
Recognising a concern
Concerns can include physical, emotional, financial or sexual abuse, neglect, discrimination, or the loss of a person's rights and choices. They may involve family members, visitors, other professionals or our own staff.
Raising a concern
If someone is in immediate danger, telephone 999. Otherwise, contact us directly and we will record the concern and act on it the same day.
You can also report a safeguarding concern about an adult directly to your local council's adult social care team, or to the police. You do not need our permission to do so.
Named safeguarding lead, internal reporting contact details and local authority reporting routes require confirmation by NewStep Home Care Ltd before publication.
